How a few weekend jobs became a Lansing masonry business
I learned the basics working on other people's crews, then started doing side jobs for neighbors here in Lansing on weekends, mostly rebuilding front steps and pointing up old chimneys. The calls kept coming, so in 2023 I made it a full-time business, Craftsman Lansing Concrete and Masonry.
Most people call us about crumbling mortar, a cracked wall or a yard project they want done once and done right. Michigan winters are hard on masonry, because water gets into a weak joint, freezes and pushes it apart, so I look for why something's failing before I touch the part you can see from the driveway. If it's the gutter or the grade doing the damage, I'll tell you. I'd rather say a job can wait than sell you work you don't need.

I come out to look at the job, I give you the estimate, and I'm on site working alongside our crew until the final check. You get a straight answer on what your masonry needs and what it doesn't, from the person doing the work.

Permits checked before work starts
Inside Lansing, the city's Building Safety Office issues building permits for construction and remodeling, and they're needed before that work begins. Before we start I check with the office that covers your address, and if your job needs a permit or a historic district review, we work out the paperwork with you before anyone picks up a trowel.
